Man City enters the game after beating Bournemouth 5-1 in Premier League play on the weekend and they’ve scored 11 times in their past two domestic games at home. However, when it comes to Champions League play, City has been mediocre at best over the past few years and lost their only home outing so far this year to Juventus. They followed that loss up with a come-from-behind win over Borussia Monchengladbach though. The bad news for City is that they’ll be without top scorer, Argentine international striker Sergio Aguero, as he’s sidelined once again for about a month with a leg injury. Spanish international forward David Villa will also miss the game due to injury and French midfielder Samir Nasri is questionable along with English international midfielder Fabian Delph and defenders Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini has some depth in his lineup though as Wilfried Boy and Raheem Sterling are in good form. Sterling scored a hat trick against Bournemouth while Bony added the other two goals. City has been beaten in their past two home outings against Spanish competition though as Barcelona downed them twice. City has won, lost and drawn two games each against Spanish teams up to now. Man City has four losses to go along with just one win and one draw in their past six home Champions League fixtures. Sevilla has managed two victories, three defeats and a draw in their past six European away outings, which have come in the Europa League.

Sevilla’s Group D record mirrors City’s this year as they’ve beaten Borussia Monchengladbach and lost to Juventus. The club has done well in Europe over the past couple of seasons by winning the second-tier Europa League title two years in a row. Sevilla struggles in England though with two losses and a draw in their past three visits there. Their last trip resulted in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal in London in the 2007/08 Sevilla will likely be without striker Fernando Llorente and midfielder Luismi for the contest as well as Sergio Escudero, Gael Kakuta and Daniel Carrico. Their last outing was a 1-1 draw in Elbar in the Spanish League. They’ve won two, lost two and drawn one in their past five games in all competitions while Man City has four victories and a defeat in their last five.
