Liverpool will be trying to keep their undefeated streak alive at the start of the 2015/16 English Premier League season when they host West Ham United at Anfield in the fourth round this Saturday, August 29. The Reds beat Stoke 1-0 away in their season opener before edging Bournemouth 1-0 at home and then drawing 0-0 at Arsenal last Monday. West Ham surprised Arsenal 2-0 away in their first game and then lost 2-1 at home to Leicester and then 4-3 on the road at newly-promoted Bournemouth.

Head to Head:

  • Overall, the two teams have met 129 times in the past with Arsenal winning 70, losing 25 and drawing the other 34. Liverpool has won nine and lost just two of their last 14 Premier League matches at home and has scored a goal in 13 of those games. West Ham don’t have a single victory in their of last 42 league games at Anfield with 31 losses and 11 draws since 1963. The Hammers have just one win in their past 13 away fixtures dating back to last season. Liverpool won 2-0 at home last season and West Ham pulled off a 3-1 victory at home at Upton Park.

West Ham’s new manager Slaven Bilic says his club’s past record at Anfield over the last 52 years doesn’t mean anything for this game. Bilic will be without the services of English veteran and team captain Kevin Nolan as he left the team by mutual consent last week. Bilic is hoping that forward Diafra Sakho will be healthy enough to play, but he’ll also be missing international strikers Enner Valencia of Ecuador and Andy Carroll of England. Right-back Carl Jenkinson of England will also miss the game due to suspension.

Liverpool vs West Ham United English Premier League Betting Preview

As for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, the squad’s captain, English international midfielder Jordan Henderson is expected to miss the game along with his English international counterpart Adam Lallana and English international striker Daniel Sturridge. In addition, Italian international striker Mario Balotelli has left Anfield on a season-long loan to AC Milan of the Italian Serie A. Liverpool’s attack hasn’t looked very threatening as of yet with new signing, Belgian international striker spearheading it. However, they’ve been solid defensively and haven’t needed many goals to earn points as of yet this season.

On the other hand, West Ham has scored six and allowed six goals and have lost a pair of games. Their games have been fairly entertaining for the fans, but the coaching staff isn’t happy with their defensive play up to now. If they can keep putting the ball in the net though and cut down on the defensive errors then the Hammers have a chance to snap their half-century long losing streak at Anfield.
