The last three games and four of the last five have ended in a draw. Liverpool is unbeaten in the last six meetings with a pair of wins and four draws. Liverpool – A Closer Look:

The Reds are coming off of a rather dull 0-0 home draw against arch rivals Manchester United last Monday. Liverpool would have taken the three points if it wasn’t for a couple of goaltending heroics by Man United’s David de Gea. Liverpool enters the weekend in the all-important fourth place with 17 points from five wins, two draws and a loss. They’ve scored 18 goals and 10 against and hope to finish at least in the top four do earn a spot in the next European Champions League event. They trail league-leading Manchester City and Arsenal by just two points, but are also only one ahead of fifth-place Chelsea.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has a few injury concerns as midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is questionable for the game with a hamstring problem and midfielder Sheyi Ojo is also likely to miss the game. In addition, defender Mamadou Sakho is back in training, but expected to miss the match game and the same thing goes for defender Joe Gomez. Liverpool is unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and has won six of those outings. They’ve won two of their three home matches this season with a draw and haven’t lost at Anfield since January.

West Bromwich Albion – A Closer Look:

As usual, West Brom sits around mid-table in the league as the club heads into the ninth round of action this season. They sit in 12th place in the 20-team division with 10 points from two victories, four draws and a pair of defeats. They earned a 1-1 draw at home against Tottenham Hotspur in their last outing a week ago. West Brom manager Tony Pulis appears to have a healthy squad to choose from this Saturday as there are no players reported on the club’s injury list.

West Brom has allowed a goal against in four of their five road outings this season in all competitions , but have also scored at least once in each of those contests. West Brom is unbeaten in their past four contests and has drawn three in a row. Two of those draws came away from home and they’ve lost just one on the road so far this season. West Brom has scored at least once on their past six trips to Anfield and Liverpool has managed to keep just one clean sheet this campaign.

Liverpool vs West Bromwich Albion – Takeaway:

To be honest, West Brom is one of the Premier League’s mediocre teams. This means title-challenging hopefuls such as Liverpool simply have to show no mercy in games against this type of opponent if they have any chance of topping the table this season.
